The National Alliance of Black School Educators Foundation(NABSEF) committee was established in 1986 and received its nonprofit exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1986 as an organization on March 22, 2006.  At that time, NABSEF became a separate organization with its’ own Board of Directors and mission.  NABSEF Articles of Incorporation were approved by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, Lansing, Michigan and Attorney Aubrey V. McCutcheon, Jr. became the registered agent.

NABSEF was organized exclusively for the purpose of receiving and administering funds for educational, scientific and charitable purposes whereby support programs of the National Alliance of Black School Educators, Inc. an organization exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1986; for perpetuation of the memory of persons, preservation of objects of historical or natural interest and for the good of public’s welfare; to receive donations and grants and to invest the proceeds and/or expend such donations and/or the proceeds thereof for the purposes above stated.  Over the years, NABSEF has financially supported a variety of NABSE Programs and recently supported the “Big Six Priorities”, of the 2019-2021 administration with a one-time $45,000.00 contribution.  The “Big Six Priorities” include

     1) Improvement of Student Outcomes in the Areas of: Early Childhood access, Literacy, Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM);  
     2) Organize Leadership Development Institutes and Career Advancement Programs;  
     3) Educator Recognition Programs;  
     4) Legislative Involvement;  
     5) Research and Best Practices Clearinghouse; and
     6) Redesign the Economic Model of NABSE Through Targeted Programming.  

Over the last 10 years, the NABSE Foundation has collected and distributed over $100,000.00 in student scholarships. The sponsors included the Mitchell Group, Public Consulting Group, Discovery Education, T-Mobile, and J. Michael Rush Collegiate Scholarship at the 50th NABSE Conference in Washington D.C. in 2022.
